Transhumance 2010
In Gschnitz and Pfons, the festival for the end of the grazing season is a valued tradition. Both people and animals return home from the upland pastures for the winter. Farmers and locals say “thanks” for a good season!
For 2010, the festival dates have been selected as follows: Gschnitz - 18 September, 2010;
Pfons - 19 September, 2010. Please mark the date!
Details and programme, Gschnitz:
From the Gschnitz Alpine pastures, cows, calves, and sheep return to the lowlands. Farmer families and the owners of Alpine lodges want to express their joy after a successful summer in the mountains. Starting at 11:00 am: the festive arrival of the Gschnitz local band, followed by an open-air concert. Around 2:00 pm: the entrance of the animals. And finally: entertainment including music and presentation of Alpine traditions (sheep shearing, artisan's alley, ...). Food and drink will be in no short supply!
